Director of Programs
Nancy joined the XO team in May of 2023 and has been working to grow the organization ever since. Her passion for individuals with disabilities was initially sparked by her younger brother, who is on the Autism Spectrum and is supported by a local adult service program. After graduating from Elon University with degrees in Special and Elementary Education, Nancy began her career at the Ivymount School, a non-public school in Rockville, MD that teaches individuals with learning differences. As she watched her brother grow up and move from the school setting to adult services, Nancy saw the massive impact this transition has on individuals and their families, and switched paths, moving away from working with children to working with adults, focussing on career discovery, person-centered job training, and community and independent living.
When not at XO, Nancy runs a job readiness program at a care farm in Dickerson, MD. She also works with several self-directed clients in their communities, supporting them at recreational activities, helping them develop social skills, and encouraging independence. She and her husband enjoy going to farmer’s markets, watching cooking and home improvement shows, and taking long hikes and exploring new places with their dog.
