Kristen is one of the founding members of Xceptional Opportunities. Her inspiration for the program is her son, Caleb, who lives with Fragile X Syndrome.   He has been the inspiration for her career as a special educator as well as starting Xceptional Opportunities when he graduated from high school and she saw first hand the glaring need for meaningful vocational opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. After graduating from University of Maryland with a degree in Elementary Education, Kristen began her career with Frederick County Public Schools and when Caleb was diagnosed she became interested in Special Education and currently works as a special educator for Montgomery County Public Schools.

When not volunteering at XO, Kristen enjoys gardening, spending time with her family and fostering dogs.  She and her family enjoy all outdoor activities.
